the cayenne pepper or the jarbridge for a newbie?

Howdy folks, i've recently been looking into getting off the ground (to that end i'm probably pulling the trigger on a BB XLC on payday) and i'm now looking for all the other stuff i need to purchase, such as the tarp (cuben or sil ahhh the choices!) and quilts

I'm not made of money, and i live out east where its often wet (nevermind the fact that i have an AT thru i'm potentially going for in the spring) so Loco's and Arrowhead's synthetic UQs have caught my eye.

Does anyone have any experiences with them that makes you lean towards one over the other? Anyone else think I should spring the extra 100+ for down?
**** you hangers for doing this to my wallet!!!

I appreciate any wisdom you lads and ladies can provide. If it helps, i'm 230, fairly broad in the shoulders, and 6'3.

One of the main reasons for getting down over synthetic is down is lighter and packs down better in a backpack. Both will keep you warm though.
So you may want to consider that.
    Carry forth.

Synthetics are cheaper, more resistant to water, and easier to make if you're DIY.

Down is lighter and compresses better. Saves weight and space.

Jarbidges may very well be the most popular entry level quilt there is, and there's probably 1000s of happy users of them.

Loco Libre gear just came out with their synthetic quilts, they have become very popular lately around these parts (the forums).

I don't think you can go wrong either way honestly. If I was doing serious miles and weight was an issue, down all the way. If you don't care about weight or space, synthetic is the way to go.

Every day is a good day.

I'm a huge Loco Libre fan and have 3 of these quilts but I will warn you about two things. First George's quilts are a thing of beauty and are very very light and warm especially the down quilts. Second you need to plan for the lead time to complete as George is busy and it takes a bit of time to get these in hand.

    You guys rock

I'm leaning towards the cayenne for reasons unclear but, hey, he's sorta kinda local
It's always surprising to see something actually good come from

You won't say this once you get one of Georges quilts. I just wish I didn't wait till the last minute to order.
