Hey!
I just bought a practically new BMBH.
I slept in my Blackbird last night.
And I'm gonna try the BMB tonight to compare.
After that, I'd be happy to let you borrow it for a little while.
I'd be interested in your observations as well!
I've had several offers so far. All seem to be BMBH. Does anyone know what the improvements have been over the last year or so?
Mrprez, et al,
JRB Bear Mountain Bridge Hammock improvements since introduction Trail days 07.
Jan 08, two inches wider
Spring 08, JRB Tri-glides and grahm flex air pillows added.
June 08, went to tex 90 waxed poly thread.
June 09, New stronger alum speader bars, non binding and full flex rotation of sections, machined notches.
Dec 09, redesigned end panels for greater seam strength.

PS...Product improvement often goes unnoticed but it is a continual process...FWIW, the JRB Nest, the original hammock under quilt, has had some 17 changes and improvements in seven years.

Thanks Jack, I was just getting ready to send you an email.
What's the time line for your inventory to be replenished? Will the sale price still be in effect?
John
OK, Brett is going to send me his BMBH. It's pre Jan 08 so is a bit narrower than the current design, but I should be able to get a feel for it from his.
I set it up in my shop yesterday afternoon just for giggles.
The flat lay is very nice, but I definitely notice the "squeeze".
It's not uncomfortable, just different than the other hammocks I've used.
I set up the primary rings about 9'3" apart. Trying to approach the recommended 9'6" felt too tight.
If you're lying down and just sit straight up, the hammock does feel a bit tippy. But from messing around in it, I think you'd have to be leaned pretty far out of the hammock before it'd go over.
I like that the flat bottom allows for a very nice fit for underquilts. I'm curious to see if the end cap feels like it's letting in cold air tonight.
It's been getting into the low 20s overnight. But it's still upper 30s in my shop. While wearing some lightweight patagonia thermals, I was plenty toasty with my te-wa wintercoat UQ and JRB No Sniveller TQ in my Blackbird last night. Hopefully I'll be just as warm in the BMB tonight.
Mrprez, et al,
We are expecting BMBH in a week or so.
The Annual Early Bird Stocking Stuffer Sale at JRB on accesories will end on 21 Dec 09...
FWIW, when ever JRB goes out of stock the order buttons are still active... If you order while the sale is on you will get the sale price.... most "temporarily out of stock postings" are back in stock in 2-4 weeks...
