I just noticed that looking at the pictures for this tarp in the original post that the 4 edges are cat cut along their entire length. That is certainly a bonus for an inexpensive tarp.

Ordered it on Christmas morning and according to UPS, it should arrive on Jan. 5th. I plan on setting it up in the backyard, along with the new KAQ Lost River, asap.
It ended up being < $40 shipped from http://www.ambientsw.com/gs55095.html
I'm interested to see how many tie-out points it has...hoping I can rig it up to close the ends for real nasty weather.
would grip clips be my best option?
Looks like it's cheap enough to be worth a shot. I want something for the shoulder seasons in E. Texas, which means sometimes frequent, severe, stormy weather. I would certainly use something smaller and lighter in the hot and mostly dry summer. Might be able to leave the tarp home entirely on some trips, and only need a fairly small one if at all.
I finally received the tarp yesterday and I did get a chance to inspect and hang it in the backyard. I'll post some pics tonight. First impressions...man this thing is huge! and not as heavy as I anticipated. The included stuff sack is way bigger than it needs to be. Feels quite durable and of good quality.
There are the 2 ridgeline (grommets), 4 corners (webbing loops sewn on), and an additional 4 side (2 grommets on each side) tieouts...totaling 10.
I wasn't able to close up the ends...not sure if this is because of my hanging location (hung between 2 trees on a fairly narrow tier), or if it's because of the side tieouts placement. they don't seem to be equal distance from the ends. some grip clips may be needed to get the ends to close.
the attached picture shows where the tieouts are located...green dots = nylon loops and red dots = metal grommets. hopefully someone can provide some input as to why the side tieouts are positioned this way.
Get rid of the metal grommets ASAP - they tear out way too easily in a high wind.
how much does it weigh with the stuff sack?
packed dimensions?
is there a write up or recommendations somewhere for getting rid of the grommets?
All I have is a bathroom scale so it's probably not too accurate but it weighed in between 1 and 2lbs on that.
The stuff sack that came with is 30" long and 6" across when laid flat. But this seems to be oversized. After laying it out in my basement, I quickly folded it back up and was able to pack it down to 24" x 4" x 4".
I was also wondering how you would go about removing the grommets without ruining the tarp?
