Tiny toggles and UCR's

Greetings all.....
Was out in the heat testing my Parallelogram Hammock again along with the DIY UCR's. The hammock ends are whipped with a CL cow-hitched to it. I keep it in a bishop bag. I usually like having a ring cow-hitched to the CL after poking thru the bag and then I toggle that to either my whoopies or UCR's. Well, with this hammy I did away with the rings and decided to cow-hitch a 10-12awg heat shrink butt connector to the CL on the hammock ends. Putting them under load, they worked great. However, the UCR's started to slip a little. Milked them and double checked the prussiks. Layed in the hammock again and seemed fine but if I moved around a little I felt them give a little......I think I have three wraps on the prussiks.....may need four. The PH felt great but I didn't stay out too long.....

Interesting choice of toggles.. Not sure I would trust that myself. The core is aluminum and meant to be malleable.

Carbon fiber arrow shaft maybe? Alu shephards hook cut down?

Either way, I appreciate your ingenuity.

From my experience with UCR's, the prusik works better closer to the constrictor. That could be the cause of your slippage. It's kind of a pain to get it right, but it helps.

Maybe, UCR can have a larger rope going inside of smaller rope--this will make it grip better.
And/or you can make the inside rope not amsteel which is slick-rather instead a more grainy rope like spyderline.
If you use both of these in tandem--the grip will be phenomenal. Good luck and indeed you're laying on a cloud.

Interesting idea. I've never seen the need, but might be worth a shot nonetheless. One possible problem I can see is larger D rope binding inside smaller D rope. After a few uses the coating gets worn off enough to no longer be slippery, which is why I usually run my UCR's up and down their length a few times when new, seems to do the trick.

tnx and yes it's aluminum but I'm thinking that because it's a cylinder it won't crush too easy. I checked it after loading it and didn't see any signs of it failing....but then it was only a short test.

tnx for the feedback. If I understand you, the prussick is really close to the constrictor. In fact, I didn't allow myself any extra to do a fourth wrap.

tnx for the input. My ridge line is an UCR made from amsteel and it appeared to have slipped. I didn't allow myself extra on the end for the prussik so maybe if I could, a fourth wrap would do the trick....still messing with them. I do have my tried and true whoopies!

Everything is same diameter. I think the tail of the UCR that is used to make up the prussik needs too be longer...tnx for your feedback
