1.6 silpoly? Anyone have experience with this?
I wouldn't, the majority of people here are using 1.1 or lighter material without any issues.

I see. I guess it would be overkill

I agree. My 1.4 is significantly tougher, but also significantly heavier than my 1.1's. You'd really have to be tough on a tarp to need more than 1.4.

I agree. So maybe 1.1 is good then.
I don't hike far in winter so wasn't worried about weight but maybe its just overkill. It will be 7-10 oz heavier than 1.1. I just was thinking the 1.6 would be better with inside poles in terms of wear.
Does anyone own a 1.6 silpoly tarp?

I left it up to Jared. 1.1 or 1.6 for my uses. Either would be ok.
    Pretty excited.

Is it true inside pole mods eventually start to wear through the tarp causing leaks?

I've never heard of anyone reporting this but I'd imagine that it could happen after several years of use but by then the tarp would most likely be worn out from typical use.

You will be fine with the 1.1. You don't need to be concerned with the poles rubbing through. I don't believe it is that much of an issue. Poking holes is much more common.
