There are spots on the stream where I have used my 300cm rod some but for most of it a 360 works just fine. Up at the ponds at the upper end of the canyon anything will work as there is open room if you can keep clear of the willows. If you want to fish lower in the canyon plan to bring plenty of flies to decorate the trees with. It's tighter fishing and you really have to watch the casting. But higher up its more open. Something for every exsperiance level.

I did print up a large large map of the canyon to have at camp so we can all look at what's close by. It has the streams and trails and lakes so that folks can get an idea of where to head for what. I and a friend from the area know the stream pretty well, KSC can help with questions about day hikes…I think he has probably hiked every inch of trail in the range a couple times.

    Any last minute questions?

    Head count?

I will be there mid day Thursday. I would recommend getting Nevada fishing license online....you can get them at the Walmart sporting goods section but the one time I did that it burned over an hour. They were not that well organized.

I'll be there Thursday night, but it will be after dark I'm sure. I don't have all my stuff put together yet.

Just got home. Was a great weekend. The weather was the best I can remember having. The fishing was good, the fire warm, the food delicious, clear skies every night, and very few other people in the canyon...just about had the place to ourselves. Thanks KSC and Twister for joining. And extra thanks to KSC for the excellent cooking all weekend.

Looks like a great trip. I have long ties to Elko with an uncle who was a sheriff and then security on the railroad, and a friend who has been in construction there for the past 20 years. Would have loved to join you. Unfortunately it is a bit of a jaunt for a weekend trip.

Ruby Hang - Northern Nevada - October 20-23

Paul thanks for organizing this trip! What an amazing spot and the fishing was fabulous.
KSC your cooking was wonderful! Thanks for making a great trip even better.
Bacon, mahogany trees, star filled nights, trout, quiet, warm days, fires, cake, and more ... the 2016 Ruby Hang had it all !

    Hey Guys!

I always love seeing pics of this hang. Pedro keeps me in the loop

If anybody ever wants to make the trek down our way for the SoCal hang, you're welcome to do so! I'm hoping to make it up there someday.
