    1.0 oz ROBIC XL

I may of missed the discussion but I thought that 1.0 oz ROBIC XL was an option for single layer hammocks? Did something change?

We are no longer offer single layer hammocks in any of the 1.0 or 1.1oz fabrics. Too many damaged and/or broken hammocks.

Do you still offer 1.0oz/1.1oz double layer hammocks? Or were there too many damaged as well?

Yes, we can certainly use the 1.0 Robic as the outside layer on a double upon request as long as the user understands the limitations with this combination.

This statement from our website possibly explains it best.
Using a double layer hammock together with a sleeping pad of any substantial thickness places almost all the stress on the outside layer only until it stretches out and is "helped" by the inside layer. If the users weight greatly exceeds the capacity of the outside layer, damage or failure can easily occur.

Any tips for people that already have a single 1.0? Does the damage seem come from people laying in it with stuff in their pockets like keys or knife or maybe just jumping in rather than relaxing in? Or just an all around bad idea?

No, just treat it like an ultralight hammock.

Good to know, thanks. So far, all my lightweight double layer hammocks have held up fine, so I think it would not be a problem in my case.

I have a SL Darien in ROBIC that I received in May. I have around twelve nights in it so far, and it has held up well. That being said, totally agree with PapaSmurf, i treat it a lot more gently than my other hammocks when I'm out.

Just as a helpful example. I think people at some point forget they are using an UL piece of gear. I've got pictures showing a young person in it with sleeping bag and zippers. (No UQ) Zipper sliders under pressure. Great fabrics are out there but for the casual user it's tough to understand the UL part

I am comforted by everyone's positive voice on Robic, but I would love to hear more about the failures. I have 3 Robic 10x62 hammocks and I love them. The freebird (with a fronkey) being my favorite of ALL my hammocks for comfort, utility and weight, but now I am a bit nervous for multiday backpacking trips. I have close to 20 nights in it with no issue. Also was thinking about selling my Robic Dangerbird, wonder if this will help, or hurt... hmmm.
