I don't remember it really ever coming up before. I think the TQ discussions have always just gotten put in with either General or the UQ topics, if not in the individual manufacturers forums.
If everyone thinks there ought to be one, I'll be happy to add it.
Can you list 15 or 20 threads that deserve to be in it?

Thanks for the consideration. I'll hunt around on the forums and try to come up with a list. If others happen to come across any, feel free to add them to the post to save time. This can include other posts that have been put in other forums, such as manufacturer forums as well, since the assumption could be that they were put there simply because there was previously no repository specifically for TQ-related threads.Originally Posted by angrysparrow

I just did a quick thread search for "topquilt" and came up with these. I'm sure there are more out there if you drill down into manufacturers, DIY, etc and do a little more careful looking. Others can feel free to add others if they come across any.

AS, I don't suppose it matter if there's been 20 threads or not. You gotcher hammocks, yer underquilts, yer tarps, and by golly, yer top quilts. In the greater scheme of things, air moves (quilts), moves underneath you (underquilts) and will move above you.
Don't tell me an Top Quilt doesn't deserve it own forum. Lay in a hammock on a winter's night, and say that!
That's what I was thinking. A TQ or sleeping bag is an essential piece of the hammock system. Many on here don't use pads, socks or bug nets which all have their own forums, however I'd be willing to bet 99.9999% use some form of top layer.

Most UQ also function extremly well as TQ.... In fact, all JRB Family of Standard Size quilts (Nests, No Snivellers, Hudson Rivers, Old Rag Mtns, Shenandoahs, Stealths) are specifically designed to go both ways on any hammock...
Extra forums result in compartmented; info which requires duplicate postings, results in missed related info.... Given the propensity for thread ramble around here it is almost a mute point to seek too much compartmentalization
Seems like a systematic tagging review... one where each post had its own tags as well as the thread tags would enable far more efficient searching...

Sorry, you're wrong. Most Jacks R Better are better quilts are designed to work as topquilts and underquilts.
I vote for a topquilt forum to be added.
