    Hello from Fayetteville AR

I'm an avid hiker and kayaker who decided on a whim to try a hammock last October on a section of the Ozark Highland Trail. I wound up completing the entire 165 mile trail over about 12 nights in the hammock and now I have a bunch of tent stuff for sale. :) I really enjoy all the knowledge and advice on these boards and will be interested in hanging with some folks come Fall and Winter. I hike a lot in the Ozark National Forest and Buffalo River area both on trail and off.

Welcome to the Hammock forums. That trip sounds like a lot of fun. How was the terrain?

I love those trails, but I don't get over there often enough.

Now you save those dollars you would spend on high priced backpacking tents and spend them on high priced hammocks and tarps. Or you could go the DIY route, which of course, never ends, since you will feel that you can always do it better, lighter, cheaper, etc.

    Welcome to the passion.

Thanks! Terrain is very hilly with several good climbs each day. Also very rocky so it's great to have the hammock.

Hello from Memphis. I plan on doing my first Buffalo River multi day trip this October. Fishing, kayaking, hanging.
Figured the mid to lower sections of the river to the White would be best.
Any experience with those sections that time of year?

At that time of year the lower is the way to go for floating. The upper river before Tyler bend will usually be too low to float before late December. As far as scenery the Buffalo is great all the way to the White River and October is about the most scenic month of the year for my money.
