Mule, Crescent Valley sounds great. Stupid question but is there plenty of trails or destinations to venture off to on sat for those who want to go on a longer hike? Shoot as long as there is plenty of space to go bushwacking Im happy. Dont care how far I go if I can wander aimlessly in the woods and Im happy. I hate city life.
Perhaps someone with more knowledge of the place than I could get us to many places from there. I know we could hike to Terrell Pond and behond to the old stone house.Originally Posted by otter46544

Cool. As long as I remember my GPS I at least know I can make it back to camp. Sounds like a fun trip coming together. Cant wait to see what is finally decided on for a location. I love winter but this is making me long for spring.
I suggest we do a winter one soon to shake down our gear.....or whatever.

Wish I could but there is no way im ready for that. Im thinking I need to make a set of poles to hang from in my yard. Just so I can play a bit and see how warm what I have will keep me. I dont have much but you have to start somewhere. Good luck and have fun putting together a winter hang.

Mule - I can't find any information on these trails that you've mentioned, except one negative report about Crescent Valley.
I think Mule is better suited to choose places in Indiana, his turf. I would say that you need to pick a date and place and then see where it goes. Some will make it and others won't. People also need to chime in on dates that work for them or risk not being able to make it. For me the closer to northern Indiana the better, but I'm sure the nicer places are in southern Indiana. I will chime in and say that I prefer backpacking in. On a northern trip I took everyone just went along at their own pace. Walked along with Kurt and got to know him a little. Everyone met up for lunch on the trail, more by accident then design, and had a good time. Lets get the date picked so I can put it on the calender before my family fills it up with something else.
