    Nice machine!
I like the 'dual feed' Pfaff machines a lot (1222, etc.), and the needle threader!
It sounds like you have the manual (there are about 3 different ways to wind the bobbin...) but I found one quickly online..

Free-arm machines are really handy for stuff-sacs, hemming sleeves and pants, etc... I can buy those 35" inseam hiking pants on clearance and shorten 'em up to keep the cuffs out of the mud...

Looks like a very solid machine..nice find.
I had a Brother 'light industrial' machine (which Sailrite rebranded as one of their 'Sailmaker' machines) and it was a really good machine - I did some boat upholstery work on it, sewed webbing, and did light nylon work as well.

Sad to see the Brother name on the plastic machines in the 'big box' stores, but apparently they sew OK.

just got a walking foot for it, so much easier on thin fabrics.
Managed to get it for £46 on eBay locally

Sews from silk to 8 layers of denim or 4 layers of leather

The 'story' here from the 'old-time members' is that it didn't have anything to do with insecure males, but I wonder....
It definitely does have the effect of hiding from internet searches a lot of the good info on sewing machines that's here at HF.

I dunno about the other members, but my gf thinks my Singer 500A is the most amazing-looking sewing machine she's ever seen. She's still afraid to learn how to use it for fear of putting a sewing needle through her finger, but she absolutely loves the way it looks and that I know how to use it. For the right kind of girl, guys using sewing machines is apparently a turn-on.

I'm pretty sure it's a universal turn on for women. And I agree with her, the 500A is a good looking machine! I sit and stare at mine for hours sometimes...
