If I'm reading the serial # correctly, it's a model 66 from 1950. Nice.
I have absolutely no experience but want to learn. Can anyone say if this one would be an appropriate first machine?
Looks to need some TLC but if its running could be a great pickup. I have something similar myself.

Yes your right it is a 66 and here is a pic after cleaning it up a bit and lube. Works like a champ just started working on its first project, a bridge. I wanted a 201 but came across this one and couldn't pass up the deal only paid $35 for it. 😃

Just picked up one of these Japanese made Singer clones last night for $20 in a cabinet. I took her word that it works. I need to replace the plug before I will know for sure.
Now I just need to figure out how it works.
