It's a new guessing game. I guess your machine was build in Taiwan by Elite Sewing Machine MFG. Co., Ltd (AISIN - Toyota). Kenmore has sold some similar machine types but this machine is no Kenmore relabel. The story of this machine type is much more complex. I can only speculate fiercely ... But you can find a lot of similar machines which were produced by Toyota too.

Show me a picture from below then I can tell you most likely more.

Good looking zigzag machine surveywaters. I love smooth machines.

This is for the experts: you guys gave me a lot of info about a Singer rebuild from the 50s I happened upon. I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about these presser feet. They all say Singer, so you all must have been right about my machine, not that I had any doubts. I'm quite certain number 1 is a ruffler. Gmcttr identified one of those for me a while back, but I have no idea about the others.

    Thanks!

    Don't know about #1
    #2:tucker
#3: narrow hemmer-turn it over and look at the slot underneath to see the width of the hem it makes.
    #4:adjustable width hemmer
    #5:adjustable zipper foot
    #6:edge stitcher
    #7:edge binder

Whoa. Thanks. You folks know your stuff. I'm quite certain 1 is a ruffler. Only seeing it from one angle probably makes it hard to identify. It has a lot of parts. I wonder if it would be worth learning how to use all those. I've read a little about the machine but haven't really messed with it yet. Do you think using very thin or very thick or very slippery fabric will work with those? I figure there is considerably more variance in fabric today than 65 years ago.

Thanks again. I'm gonna label them all.

I've tried the narrow hemmers: can't seem to keep our type fabrics in it. Same with the adjustable hemmer. Some of the old Griest rolled hemmers work OK. The best by far, for me has been: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...led-Hem-Guides : see post#3

If you want to learn how to use your attachments, get one of those little green instruction manuals that came with the old vintage Singers. In the back pages are instructions for using the attachments. It doesn't seem to matter which model # machine or even year, all of the short shank attachments work on different models. 66, 99, 201, 15

@CountryRoads - I agree with Squidbilly's identifications and #1 is a Ruffler. These attachments are primarily used for apparel sewing (ladies'), mainly different decorative type treatments of the fabric. They are fun to play with, but have limited use for gear makers.

I have played with my ruffler and have a far fetched idea if using it in some stort quilt baffle construction but other that I can't think of one good use for it.

How about ruffles on a "tactical" kilt?

It sews really nice. I really like the way the bobbin just pops right into the machine. Much easier to use than my Montgomery Ward machine.
