A friend of mine in NC has sewing machines, parts, thousands of needles, manuals for almost all machines and has been a sewing machine mechanic for years. His site is www.heavysew.com just ask for Dale.

Since reading this thread multiple times and the many posts about thread gallows for cones I made my own. I used Yellow Popular Butcher Block and a 3/16 Brass Welding Rod. The stain used was Cabot gunstock.

glad to hear your double needle is doing well. I love pullers for slippery fabrics and have only used racing brand.

you've got quite a nice setup for sure.

Pullers can be set up for almost any machine. Peruse advanced sewing if you're interested. They're not cheap though. http://www.advancedsewing.com/racingpullers.html

That is very close to what is installed on my Bernina. After one selects stitch length, one adjust the puller to match the stitch length so it pulls the same distance as the feed dogs

Dave that looks good. The bigger the spool, the cheaper the cost of thread. I buy a lot of thread from www.rochfordsupply.com in 1 lbs spools

    oreana,

I put it to use last night just messing around and it works like a charm. Thank You for the link as JoAnns looks at me like I am crazy when I ask them where their 100% polyester outdoor thread is located.

The thread I find in that link are heavier threads than most of our home machines can handle (I think).

The Joann stores around here carry Gutemann sew-all and DIY Gear Supply and others carry Gutermann's stronger Mara 70 (as well as Tera) which I find strong enough for anything I'll need.

It's true, most home machines will not make a good stitch with that size thread/needle. There are a lot of other products and fabrics there as well. Craigslist can be your friend, I just answered an add for large rolls of white grossgrain for $7 each. Out the door....John S

Tex 40 poly from American & Efird in 6000 yard cones. One of my favorite poly threads.
