Hey guys I'm looking for a new machine. There are a few requirements nothing above 200$ used, need straight and zigzag stitch and it need to be able to handle ultralight fabrics all the way up to leather, and I'd appreciate if it would last longer than I will. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

That is a pretty neat chair in the first one!

Hey, for the price - both would still get you in your price range of $200 then you could take 'em for a spin and see which you like better then sell the one that doesn't make the cut. If the attachments are interchangeable even better!

Well, I bought a Kenmore model 84 in a cabinet today. I tried it out, and while I admittedly don't know the first thing about sewing (yet), it seemed to run and stitch very nicely. I paid $15, and as of now, am very happy with my purchase. I have tried looking online, buy can't seem to find a chart which allows me to identify the date mine was manufactured. So, here is the information I have. It says made in Japan and is model number 158.840 and serial number 001441. I'd appreciate any information anyone might have that could help me identify the year. I don't need a manual because it came with the original manual. Sorry for the long post.

Just finished cleaning and oiling two new machines. A Singer 6233 And a Kenmore 158-17500! Both now look and work great.
    That Kenmore is awesome!
    Looking forward to using both.
