I use a large storage tote filled with hose water and a couple drops of laundry soap or tech wash. Swish around for a while then rinse with the hose
DO NOT PUT IN A MACHINE!! EVER!! Put it in the tub or a tote or a large bucket. Very little, mild, laundry detergent. Soak, swish, rinse, hang up to dry. Easy peasy! Use whatever you use on any delicates...or what your wife would use. Doesnt take much...
I would just hand wash. Depending on how dirty it I would either wipe it down while its hanging with some warm water or if its real dirty do what Squid said and fill a tote. Just remove the gathering rope/cord to get the ends clean . Let it dry out before regathering the ends.
I would stay away from a washing machine because the netting can be fragile and could snag on the zipper or something.
Hang on Hangin on
Search the Butt in a Sling subforum, there's a very good thread on hammock cleaning. It will be worth the effort to find the thread!!
Here it is https://hammockforums.net/forum/show...g-instructions

Thanks guys... I'll hand wash in a storage tub. It isn't super dirty, but I do have some sap drips from pine trees I'd like to get rid of on the netting. That's the only trouble area I'll have.
Do you think warm water is ok, or should I stick with cold?
Warm, not hot water is fine.
An alternative to a tote is to just hand wash in a bathtub. Not sure about your pine sap drippings - I am skeptical ordinary detergent will loosen and remove that. You may need to look at a product like goo-gone or mineral spirits to dissolve such things. Test on something you don't care about so much (like a $1 mosquito head net). Good luck!
