I kicked around the idea of a 40˚F, but in the bush and especially the mountains, there's only a few weeks where the low temp is above 60˚F, otherwise I've seen some early summer/late summer lows go down to the mid-40's, but most going down to the 50's. I haven't bought it yet, but I think I've settled on a 30˚F (-1˚C) set, which can cross over into the shoulder seasons, especially if mixed with a 0˚F or 10˚F set, plus the 30˚F would give you that 10˚F buffer for those clear sky unexpected summertime dips. plus combine that with your 0˚F set and you've got yourself a very powerful deep winter set.

But of course, that depends on your body too. I'm neither a hot nor cold sleeper, so.... And this is my way of not buying 3 sets.

    My 2¢.

The dollar is going a up a bit again. It might be time to take advantage.

I have a full 45* UQ that I use in my room. I rarely get to use that outdoors, as for I usually camp in the mountains where temps usually drop.
I do love having it for my room
    I'd rather be hanging.

Pardon the ignorance. What's CCF? $10 and less weight doesn't sound bad at all.

CCF = Closed-Cell Foam. Walmart, Target and no doubt others sell them in their camping and/or fitness sections. Rolled up they are 6"-8" in diameter and 24" wide.

Oh. Quite bulky. Sounds like the poor man's yoga pad. I'll have a look when I'm back in town.

Strapped to the outside of your pack, takes up less space than a sleeping bag inside your pack!

One of my best hammock related purchases has been my Wilderness Logics summer series sets. I have both partial and full size. I would recommend the partial as it is lighter smaller and less expensive. I'm going to use the full size to supplement my warmer quilts when it gets really cold.

Woobie on top. If the low is 70 or below I'll bring a 3-season Jarbidge. I'm a cold sleeper.

I just got rid of my 3-season Yeti because I got sick of having to improvise insulation for my legs and feet. Got a new 3-season Wookie and love it!

here in New England you can never be sure it won't get down into the 50s at night (cooler in the mountains) and I really hate being cold at night, so I don't think that's overkill at all, at least for me. YMMV.

    Have fun!

I just got back from a short trip and got to use my summer series quilts from Wilderness Logics. They worked out perfectly, probably was in the low 60's high 50's.
