Plan is to do winter hammock camping
Awesome. That's the best time of year to hang IMO.
Can't tolerate hot ,muggy,buggy summers.
Keep warm, stay safe, enjoy!
Welcome from Kentucky. UQ or go home!
I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.
Hey back from Kentucky. My buddy and I each got us the new Sheltowee under quilted hammocks. We took them to Red River Gorge this past weekend KNOWING IT WAS GOING TO RAIN. We wanted to test the seaworthiness of the snakeskin tarp in the rain. I stayed dry and warm. I am taking this hammock to Nicaragua in January for 2 weeks of camping. Had to make sure I stayed dry as it rains every single day and night up in the mountains.
Enjoy Nicaragua. I was a foreign exchange student there and it is one of my favorite places in the world to be. Eat some chicharon for me. Twanis.
Pads have too small of a comfort foot print. I'd been using a 25' wide pad. It was comfortable during the summer months. But once the nights began to dip below 50*or so, it wasn't as reliable. I started waking up several times a night because one of my arms was off the pad and getting cold. I don't know how someone could make due with one of those narrow 20" pads!
Cold is when your CBS, hot is when your draft collar cinched.
Cold is poor site selection, Hot is hammock casino night.
