Klymit Hammock V, a good idea or not

I have this. I'm a n00b and had the unusual opportunity to purchase items I don't normally have the cash flow for.

Pros: it's more versatile than it would seem to be. I have an Amok and picked up an Exped for it, as instructed. I hate the Exped inside the Amok. I can fold the wings in on the Klymit and deflate enough to fit inside the Amok.. the design allows me to comfortably side-sleep, even in the fetal position. It's pretty cool in a traditional hammock, as well. It's durable, too. So far.

Cons: yeah, they're expensive. And heavy. And I'm terrible at rolling it up properly to fit into the stuff sack. And heavy.

That said, the fact that it makes the Amok comfortable has made it worth the cash for me. Until I figure out how to fit my Luxe into that spot...

I like my klymit pad . Yes, expensive ! https://goo.gl/HXBaQj
But lightweight, easy to roll and doesn't take much space, doesn't slip, and most important protect my back from the cold, especially early morning hours.

FYI - the Klymit hammock pad is available until June 13th at Massdrop for $85+shipping.

That link has my affiliate id, if you want to link to the page without me as the referrer this link should work.

I don't have this specific pad myself, but I have the Klymit Double V, which is basically the same pad without the side cutouts for the "wings" to fit in the hammock nicely. I had a warrantee claim on it, and Klymit turned around a replacement pad in about a dozen days - Klymit take care of their customers!

IMHO Klymit made a real mistake by omitting the Insulated Hammock V option from this drop, summertime or not; it's just a better product and a better value...

It's may be June, and the high this afternoon is forecast for 80, but it was 48F when I woke up.

They have the insulated version available now for $100.

This URL should work if you don't want to use my "referred by so-and-so" link: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/klymit-hammock-v-pad

For people saying it's too expensive. One option is to wait for a Klymit roadshow at Costco, that's what Costco calls them roadshows. I picked mine up for $90, about a 40% savings, still expensive but less so. They may have events at the other warehouse stores too, like Sams club.

    that's interesting

which exped did you have? and do you have a pic of your amok with the klymit in it? I can't imagine getting proper support in the amok with it

The Massdrop has reached the $89 price for the uninsulated version and $104 for the 4.4 r-value insulated model. Despite the weight (~2lbs), this should be a good buy for most non-UL hikers. I'm hoping to get mine in before a short hike in early Oct...
