I made a video showing how to safely use a dutch clip but it also pertains to other attachment points. When done correctly, there is little pressure on the point where the clip meets the webbing.

Thanks Dutch, I think that helps make things even more clear for dunderheads such as myself!

Good job. It's always nice to get more safety info out there for the many new hangers.
Hope to see you at HangCon 2017.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
so smart!
This should probably be a sticky thread.
Thank you Dutch, thank you Dutch for all that you do. I love my Dutch Bling!

I have been doing the exact opposite as Dutch suggests. He is correct that the way he does it is less stressful on the webbing and buckle. I do it to move the hammock to the back of the tarp leaving more room on the side of the tarp I get out on. I do the same thing with the tarp only in the opposite direction moving the tarp forward. That leaves the hammock ridge line hanging not directly below the tarp ridge line and gives me more living space on the side of the hammock I get out on.
That video is perfect. Thanks Dutch. The last two days of testing I have been more focused on making sure that line is straight as possible off the tree and not riding against the clip. I have had two very successful nights of hang testing. Of course one with a dutch clip and using my old strap with a Marlin spike hitch. At least I get to practice
Maybe that's why my hammock fell... should have sen the video....
I have slept in a hammock on every continent from -20 to +128, under direct and indirect fire, from frost to fungus except Antarticia.... But give me time... Thank you Uncle Sugar!
