I have to agree with you that this is one of the best hangs I have attended in my half decade of hammock hanging. You and RockDawg knocked this hang out of the park. Sorry I did not say goodbye to anyone, but once I made it to the vehicle with our gear we were ready to go. Great company, great food, and great weather.
Straight out of Clayton.
Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.
I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.
I just wanted to say that Kingsford and I had a wonderful and relaxing time. It was great to finally see the beautiful Grayson Highland park. The weather and company couldn't have been better. We really enjoyed meeting some new folks, talking with old friends, and seeing some beautiful scenery. And thanks to all the great cooks we had some wonderful food. Thank you Gunny for letting us sample your chili, it was awesome. I spent some money on food and gifts at the festival, and we got to eat a nice chicken dinner in the shade while we listened to some really good pickin. They do have some fine fiddlers and pickers in Virginia. I'm sure we will do this hang again in the future. We hope to see ya'll at another hang sometime soon.
Hotlips and Kingsford.

I must say, I was blue when it was time to leave.
There were six of us that stayed Sunday night, Hickery, Home Run, Rock Dawg, Ham Mike, Zak & myself.
Sun afternoon, Hickery, Home Run & myself went up to the visitors center & looked around, then hiked the 1.2 mile loop Pinicale trail there to get some nice views of the park from up high.
I was the last one in line as we drove out Mon. I stopped by the Rangers office, then drove back up to the over look & stayed there a while.
It was hard to leave & hard to say good bye.

The raffle was a huge success!
Along with a nice supply of donations of hammock & camping gear made by the folks attending the hang, very nice donations were made by several of our cottage makers of hammocks & gear!
Right off the top of my head, generous donations were made by "Jacks R Better", "Arrow Head Gear" & "Molly Mac Gear".
I know there were others so maybe you guys can help me out on recognizing & thanking them.
The group site was free because we provided the Hammock Camping Demo during the festival & no other requests were made for group needs, so the total amount of the raffle will be mailed by check to Grayson Highlands State Park via "Friends Of GHSP".
The grand total from the raffle was $760!!!
Possibly our biggest total donated yet!

Looks like a really fun time, with some great views.
I didn't notice much in the way of gear, and hammocks, and tarps set up in the photos...
Were there sufficient trees in the sites for hammocks, or did everyone bring there own stand or something?
Or was this some kind of HHINO-tented affair?
Curious minds need to know.

Plenty of room! We could have fit even more people. Here is where we sat up, way down the gill from the "official" group site pads.

I had a great time! Great to see some old friends and make some new ones! Thanks to those who helped me with my gear, all the words of encouragement as I continue rehabing, and all those who cooked up what might be one of the best meals I've ever had at one of these events!

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.
Yes there was plenty of room for hammocks. The staff at GHSP allow us to fan out in the surrounding woods.
There were at least two tents that I remember but most by far were in hammocks.
