EDIT AGAIN: OutandBack... that's a nice compare/contrast set of photos, thanks. This forum continues to prove its worth!
I was hoping my post helped.
Not too many folks know about using the Grizz Beaks in vestibule mode and I find it really gives one a nice protected area under the tarp if the weather turns bad.

From what I gather they make 2 cf one the same as the sil and one specific to the hg hex.

Do you use the same pattern for the Cuben Fiber Grizz Beaks as the sylnylon?

The reason I ask is I have found my sylnylon Grizz Beaks make an excellent vestibule something my tarp doors don't do well they don't seem to have enough fabric overlap.
I just saw this question...sorry for the delay in responding.

For the standard size Cuben Grizz Beak, yes we use the same size as the silnylon beak. For the Cuben beak sized for a Cuben tarp, it is a bit smaller to fit the Cuben width. Yes, for both, you can pull it out as in your picture and have a bit of a vestibule.

I purchased a grizz beak after I did a DIY out of some left over nylon ( DIY was not silnylon) it has been used twice now. Works great. Used it this weekend had to setup and could tell the wind was going to come in at an angle to my tarp all night . Put the grizz beak on and stopped the wind. The other time had rain start and was blowing in on my hammock. Put the grizz beak on over lap the door end and stop the blowing rain. It works great. For the little weight I carry every trip now. Just in case
