Great, creature! Looking forward to it.
We'll most likely be having everyone bring one thing for a shared group dinner on Saturday night, then folks will probably disperse and skedaddle sometime Sunday.

I've never been on a Hangout, or really much lightweight camping at all, so I don't have much equipment. I was wondering if there were any recommendations for a pack list. I'm sure it will help me when I go on my 2 week AT hike.
What I have right now is
-4.6lb (2100g) internal frame ruck (Rejka Kansas 55) (65 liters)
-No sleeping bag yet, Looking at a 20* bag, considering the REI polar pod 25, EMS Boreal 20*, and the Marmot Trestles 20. cant afford to go too high.
-9.5 lb 3 Person Tent (possibly bringing a friend)
-Army self inflating sleeping pad
-no true stove yet, however I just made a vienna sausage can alcohol stove that could possibly work. I'm trying to get stuff that is lightweight, and the pocket rocket seems good except for the canisters you have to lug around. I was also considering building Risk's Forge (http://www.imrisk.com/forge/forge.htm) Thoughts on that?
-No cookware yet, but was thinking the $6 walmart lightweight aluminum mess kit set
-trekking poles; are they decent to use? I saw some at walmart by Swiss gear for about $20
-Currently have the Katadyn hiker water filter, just bought it at basspro still in the box, but ive read that the aqua mira tabs, steripen, or gravity filters are the way to go. Not too sure.
layered clothing, boots, flashlight, batteries, compass, first aid kit, knife

I'm planning on asking for that Saturday off at work or at least shift my start time to go in later (I have the crappy Tue-Sat 3pm-midnight shift) so that I can drive over and do a meet/greet with everyone that will be there. Check out some setups as I am anxiously awaiting ordering a hammock and gear to get started.
Creature, bring whatever you need to eat and sleep, and spend the weekend looking over everyone else's stuff!
I do that at every hang...

Just fyi, for those wanting to hike into Yates Place, you can park at the Uwharrie trail parking lot on HWY 109. Then you can just hike south about 5 miles. The trail comes right into Yates Place
Yates Place has a pit toilet, fire-ring, and a picnic table. As Millergear has stated, it does not have a water source. You will need to bring in all your water; the closest creek is too far to comfortably carry it back in volume. There are dozens of trees to hang in near the picnic table.
If I'm back in Asheboro by then I will try to join in.

I will be there for sure
Wish I could be there! Got a job in PA, time to pack up and move again. Happy Hanging in the Uwharrie!
Not looking like I'm going to be able to make this one either ... but hey Joe ... congrats on the Job! Going to miss ya down here pal. Remember ... once a Gorge Rat always a GR!
