    Looking at new Suspension

I'm looking at upgrading over the winter some gear. First thing I'm looking at is my suspension. I have atlas straps and have been perfectly fine, but the adjustability, lower weight ect. I think I want to go to buckles. Looking at my favorite go to dutchware and having exchanged some emails with the crew there... I'm still trying to make up my mind on material for those straps.

I'm about 285 lb. and this will probably be going on a WarBonnet Blackbird (my other planned upgrade)

I worry materials.... Just want to hear others pro/con because I have been reading up still can't decide.

Tree Hugger, Tree Hugger 3000 or the Dyneema/Polypro.. something else that might work better??? Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks

I really like my Dyneema/Polypro straps. Have had zero issues with them.

I want to second the webbing option, especially for winter. I also use Atlas or Python (Kammock) straps for their simplicity. But sometimes I miss the continual adjustment option. You'll read a lot about whoopie slings here but for me, they just add too much required distance between trees and I wouldn't want to work with them when wet and/or cold. On a warm summer day - sure. But for winter, stick with your Atlas Straps or go with webbing and buckles.

For me the simpler the better, 3,000 lb tree straps with a set of cinch buckles,, thread the cl's that the buckles are attached to thru the end channel of your hammock and use a set of straps that have a loop on one end, feed the end thru the loop around the tree and then thread the buckles and adjust, done.!, Takes less than a minute for each side and the 3,000 lb straps will hold up a long time.

I've never tried buckles, but the Dutch Whoopie hook suspension has been serving me well for several years.

I prefer the simplicity of buckles. I've tried whoopies. I didn't dislike them, I simply prefer buckles. Both systems are good. Depends on what you want and how much you like to fiddle with things.

I bought my BB xlc with the buckles and carabiners and love them. I had made Whoopie slings for my old Hennessy for my daughter and didn't care for them. Just replaced them with buckles from AHE. They had a kit with webbing, buckles and continuous loops altogether in one package that made it easy and inexpensive to order.

I generally prefer whoopies with whoopie hooks but for colder weather I just got some cinch bugs on the dyneema polypro straps. I have to say I'm really enjoying that setup as I play around with it. As an added bonus it really doesn't weigh much more than my whoopie sling setup. Time will tell how they wear but I'm guessing they will be at least as durable as the whoopies and easier to adjust with gloves on in cold weather.
