The Last Texas Hang of 2009

It looks like the next Texas Hang, (the last possible one of 2009), will be at Stephen F Austin State Park (between Houston and San Antonio just north of I-10 at San Felipe) the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.

Several of us will be hanging out Tuesday Night - New Year's Day.

All are welcome - if you plan to come, respond to this thread and we will save you a pair of trees.

I might try to get there as early as Monday night.

I'm expecting a nice coleman grill from Cheerleader for x-mas so I will bring that and a cooler of various meets.

I'll also bring a couple 12 packs of soda.

Count on me for the "kitchen" including dutch ovens so we can go crazy fancy on cooking.

If you can get there early that would be excellent - secure the sector, hold down the fort and all that.

Cheerleader is going to join us on New Year's . . . assuming i can borrow the hammock i sold Uncle - and some more TQ and UQ's oh and tarp! sheesh!

I'm really looking forward to seeing folks and relaxing. I just spoke with the park reservation office and they have about 30 spaces open in the water only area. I made a reservation for one site since this is kind of a last minute thing and we don't know for sure who is going or when folks are arriving.

Just a state park reminder, there is a maximum of 2 cars per site and 8 people. In addition, we need to bring our own wood since firewood gathering is prohibited.

If you want to reserve a site, they are $15.00 per night and there is also a per day gate entry... (that TPWD Parks Pass is a bargain that's paid for itself more than once for me so far.)

There is a potential hammock convert from Ft. Worth that I've talked with on Whiteblaze who plans on coming along with his mother.

In addition, for sure the following folks will be there:

That's great to hear she will join us! Nothing like selling gear to get a spouse interested in hitting the woods.

I would be happy to rent my new hammock to you

or I could always take delivery next year, (1/1/10)

Not sure if our plan is to use underquilts or DAMs - the last time it got really cold, I doubled up on the UQ and TQ but that was without Cindy along and I need to make sure she is warm too. I'll bring what I have and we'll figure out how to keep Cheerleader comfortable. Also, I can bring a cheapy blue walmart tarp that will keep the rain and bird poop off. Let's talk after Christmas and determine what you really need me to bring for you guys.
