Never found these topic on the forum, I would love to hear the ups and downs of this idea. Has any one made a successful dyi bottom load hammock?
Has anyone gave up on the idea?

I think the fact that many people with Hennessy hammocks (the only mfr. I'm aware of that makes bottom-loading hammocks) opt to get the 2Q zipper mod done is something to consider.
That being said, a DIY HH clone shouldn't be too hard to make. Just sew your bugnet on, and cut your slit in the bottom and reinforce it, and you're good to go.

I added the bottom entry, ala Hennessy, to my first hammock. I thought it would be a neat feature, but I never ended up using it. I always use an underquilt, so it was covered up. I left that feature off my last hammock and won't be missing it.
