How many hang their tarps with a ridgeline?

I was wondering what the trend is doing considering ridgelines for tarps. I am just now trying an over the tarp ridgeline, and wanted to see what you all are doing and thinking about this.
Whether or not you are using a ridgeline, what do you THINK about them?

I have little experience with tarps, but initially plan on having a ridge line attached under the tarp. I like the idea of a clothesline, which I usually setup in camp anyway. And, although it may not be required, I like the thought of the ridge line helping to support the tarp,

I've done the ridgeline over the tarp with prussiks the last two times.
    I like it.

I like the ridge line over the tarp. i use something like prusik knots, but wrap it 3 or 4 times. if i could figure it out how to pt it under the tarp i probably would try that to give me a clothes line. if you know how to do this please enlighten me, i am curious.

Good idea, why not both? Over the tarp with prusics to pull the tarp taught, and a looser one under the tarp put on permanently between the tarps own ridgeline tabs. Yep, that's what I think I will be trying.

one thing i found out when having the RL under the tarp is when it rains you will get run-off all over your hammock and gear..

unless you get the water to channel down off the RL befor it goes down the RL that far

I just started using an under RL and while I see the concern with water running down the suspension, I don't think that 1.75 mm lines will carry much water and if they did, how will it get past the prusiks that hold the tarp in place?...
I have yet to use in the rain, so maybe that might answer my questions

Thanks. I have heard that and plan on having a little string hanging just under the tarp for that purpose.

I don't see that it would make any difference which side of the tarp the ridge line is on when it comes to fastening the tarp to it. Am I missing something?
