    tarp for my ENO doublenest

I just got an ENO doublenest and I'm going to need a tarp for it. I will preface this by saying that I like big tarps. I want to be covered in the rain (since I always seem to find it) and I'd like to cook under it and be able to chill under it. I've seen pics of the Speer winter tarp and it looks good. I'm just curious if there are other similar options I'd be well-served to check out? FYI, I don't have a local outfitter where I can examine various options...so I'm going to need to see some pictures.

The new Backwoods Daydreamer Winter Dream 11x10 seems to be a very good option for people that like a big tarp. You can't beat the price and the best part is that it is made by a member of these forums.

I second the Backwoods Daydreamer. Either the Winter Dream or the 4 season...

Nate, get thee to a group hang. You will see and lay hands on a wide variety of gear and rigging, make new friends, and in general just have a heckofa good time.

    Welcome!

NATE! You made it! I tried to figure a way to tell you about Hammockforums over there, but "recruiting" for another site is a no-no.

You're in great hands here. It would be worth a road-trip to go to a hang. It's like graduate level studies in hammocking. You can check out multiple suspensions, tarps, underinsulation, and so forth.

You're already ahead of the game. You've got an excellent basic hammock and avoided all the crappy accessories. Now you can get excellent advice and arrive at the best options for you.

Another vote for the BD Winter Dream V2. Had a chance to pitch mine yesterday for the first time. Great workmanship and features. And roomy! Prices go up after the year ends.

    Hi Nate,

There are a number of larger tarps available, such as

    JRB 10'x11' cat tarp

    Backwoods Daydreamer Winter Dream

Warbonnet Outdoors Superfly (sorry, can't find a photo at the moment)

All the makers are members here, and there are many who own and have experience with these tarps. I'm sure many would be glad to share any info that would help answer any questions you might have.

Another option is using something like Grizz beak added to the ends of a regular tarp to help block out wind and weather.

You might also consider making your own tarp, with the features you think might be most helpful for your needs.

IME, It's good to have a tarp that's at least a couple feet longer than your hammock for good coverage.

Welcome to the wonderful world of hammocking!

I just ordered the chinook 14x12...it's probably going to be heavier and pack up larger than most but at $40 I figured it would be worth a try.

yeah, bearpaw, I made it. lol...there just wasn't enough info on hammocks over there (or anywhere else I frequent) so this place just made sense. I did see about the prices going up on the backwoods daydreamer tarps. That's not quite the timing I had in mind to buy one. I won't be backpacking yet for a few months (cancer recovery and all...), so I have lots of time to find the right one.
