NC>3rd Annual Frosty Butt Hang> Merchants Mill Pond SP>2-5 Feb 2017

NC > 3nd Annual Frosty Butt Hang at Merchants Mill Pond State Park 2 - 5 Feb 2017
2016 Frosty Butt Hang at Merchants Mill Pond State Park

    Sign Up Sheet Link Here

What...The 3nd Annual 2017 Frosty Butt Hang at Merchants Mill Pond State Park North Carolina

Where..Group Site # 1 at Merchants Mill Pond State Park North Carolina

    When.... 2nd Feb ( Thursday noon ) thru 5 Feb ( Sunday noon ) 2017

Goal...to hang in some cold weather and test our hammock gear.

As those of you who have been here before know, the site has heated restrooms and a shower.

Meals...Meals will be individual and or a group effort as Hotlips and Kingsford to not play in the cold.

I can bring a gas and propane coleman 2 burner stove to share.

As we hope it gets cold, be sure to bring hammock gear and clothing for the cold ( and maybe snow ? ). The low so far for this hang has bee 22 F. I know its not very cold for those up north but we have to work with what we get.

If you need to borrow some gear, let us know as many us have extra gear we can share.

If you want you can bring a tent instead of a hammock.

If this is your first cold weather hang, please let us know so a more experienced hanger can check your set up. We want you to be comfortable and have a good time and not freeze to death.

If you need to borrow gear, let us know and we will try to help out.

we will need firewood so anyone with source of wood, please bring some. Efforts to purchase fire wood locally have not been successful.

    Cost..$15 per person.

I plan on being there after work on Friday, early to tell but it is our slow time at work (hopefully).

Will bring firewood, don't know how much, depending on what vehicle I take.
    Straight out of Clayton.

Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.

The weather folk are forecasting a warmer than normal winter. The Terminator should like that.

Many of my trees have yet to turn colors and or loose their leaves. At least the skeeters have died back but the ticks are out in force. The Terminator and I found several of them on us after a short hike in the woods.

Most of my leaves (green) came down during Hurricane Matthew. Usually I am done blowing leaves by now. My yard has a way to go before the leaves fall. Looks like a mild winter for us.

Just got back from 2 days in the Birkhead Wilderness with Firebird. 34 deg Tues night. Many trees in full color there.

On the sign-up sheet. Looking forward to it.
