In the Pine Barrens, about all they have are sandy trails through the woods. It would be hard to avoid sand in the Pine Barrens!
And by the way, I have never, ever, seen a bike on a hiking trail in the Pine Barrens. On roads, yes, but never on trails. I don't think it's allowed.

Yea, expect sandy roads and maybe some designated trails, but hopefully hard pack in either respect. It will depend on temp/precip conditions that weekend (as well as recent past rain/snow) whether I bring mine but it sounds like an interesting place to ride. I did find this http://www.bikekinetix.com/t_nj/nj_state/wharton_sf.php which mentions some bike-able trails. I have not found anything yet that prohibits the use. I am not looking to do anything really technical.
I also found this bike trail which looks like it's just south of the hang location. Here is more info as well.
Mrcheviot, I will let you know if I'm bringing mine. Waiting to hear if Jolly Green might bring his too.
There is no way to zero out the additional calories from these hangs but I hope to make some dent in it!
