If some folks are up for the backpacking overnighter, I'll join 'em. It just sounded like nobody was going to be doing that. It's all good, I do plan on spending Fri night at Ratcliff Lake campground, anyway, and then spending Sat night out on the trail.
I'm flexible.
There's a beaver pond about 3.5 miles from the campground and another pond area at about 5 miles. If you google 4c trail you'll get some good write ups (of course most have probably already done that).
I haven't hiked the north end yet, but will do so in Feb.
There is a boardwalk area through the slough that is pretty cool to hike and there is also a shelter further up the trail around the Walnut Creek campsite.
I'm with mtbikernate. I'd like to hang out on Friday night, and then pack up and spend Sat night out on the trail. I'm planning on coming down Wed to setup and fish for a couple of days. Is there a particular area we need to reserve? This will be spring break for alot of people and could be very busy.
Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or play with it, just pee on it and walk away.

I'm looking to get there Wed and fish as well. A hike on Sat sounds good.

only 9 electric sites at this place can be reserved. all other sites are first come-first served (there is potential for group camping, though that is also first come-first served).
Well, bclarkmsu and I should be there early so we'll do our best to get the enough space for everyone. Hopefully, we can grab one of the group sites. It's probably a little early to get a good count on the number of campers. When we get closer to the event I'll count up the number of replies and see where we stand. I can't wait.

I'm there. Count me in. I can't wait to see a bunch of different setups.
Hammocks are God's way of saying....."relax guy".
I can make this one. See you there!!
I didn't take the time to go back through all the posts, but here is a link to the various maps of the area. It took me a while to find them.

Scroll down the page until you get to the Davy Crockett section.
There is a map of the park (Ratcliff), an overview map of the 4c trail and topo maps of the sections of the 4c trail, and a list of way points for gps.
Enjoy!
I'm hoping to make it but spring break plans have not been confirmed by the COO.
