This may be a silly question, but I too am planning to supplement my synthetic underquilt with a down throw. I've never attempted to modify anything and I can't sew, so using snaps seems great. But I wonder, will the compression of the materials around the snaps compress the insulation too much? Will I feel a draft or a breeze when the wind blows? Thanks for the input.

    Enodia,
I bought my snaps but have yet to modify my quilt, however thinking about your question the snaps will be close to edge so compression should be minimal. Also for my setup anyway the snaps will be on the bottom which will also be covered below by the hammock and under quilt, so should make up for any loss of insulation in the small area of the snaps.

    My .02- YMMV

Does YMMV stand for your method might vary?

It typically stands for 'your mileage may vary' , such as 'this worked for me but may not work for everyone equally'

Will you let me know how it works out? Putting the snaps on the edge sounds good.
