    New hammock with top cover

    Hey all,

I am working on a new hammock with a removable top cover. The main difference from our Goshawk hammock is the arch shaped zipper entry which matches with the top cover entry. It is a symmetrical hammock like our Goshawk but is significantly lighter and has a more compact pack size even though it use the same material apart from the zipper.

Winter hammock camping is becoming more popular over in Australia and the winter cover is aimed specifically at those people. There will be the option to vent at the door and the ends to reduce the effects of condensation. For those that camp in cold weather and use a top cover what are people's thoughts on this design?

I still have a bit of tweaking and testing to do but I am really happy with it so far. Of course thanks to the good people at Dutchware Gear/Make Your Gear for the great fabric.

    Thanks

    Simon

Great looking hammock!! Will the "door" seam being on bottom like that get damaged from sitting on the edge of the hammock? Any stress issues there I mean.

Thanks mate. My initial testing over the last couple of weeks indicates that there are no issues with the bottom door seam or the zipper. There is more testing to do and features to add but I really like this door design and it should be as durable or more as other designs. We have used a #3 zipper and there is zero stress on it, closed or open.

Very nice! I like that the bug net and winter cover can be on TOGETHER. Nice not to have to choose in advance which of the two to go with!
