Advice from Black Bird owners/users

I use a 20x 20 x 3/8 pad folded over to 10 x 20 (2 in cold weatrher) as the frame for my pack and under my legs/feet in the foot box of the WBBB. Problem is they won't stay put even if between the bottom layers. Think I'll try Cannibals idea and use my pack w/my feet thru the hip belt. Sounds clumsy but might do the trick.

Any other ideas for keeping the foot/leg pads in place?

I just got back from an overnighter on Blood Mtn last night. I have a Blackbird and a 3 season Yeti. I attached my down vest to the outside of the hammock at the foot end, then stuffed my light-weight down jacket in the vest under the hammock. I really worked well! It got down to 23 and my feet were toasty. I usually carry both items so they now have dual uses.

I love great dual use ideas. Hiking at Blood Mt. on the weekend, hangin, staying nice and warm...life is good

The folks on HF site are really the best ever. Thanks for all of the reply's. What I have taken away from this is that I will stick with my current set up and make it work for colder conditions with innovative strategies learned here on HF. .....The urge for new gear just takes over sometimes, thanks for hanging with me until it passed

i put my extra cloths in the layers of my hammock...works out nice...and i use a small pad in my quilts foot box...best part is the pad is soo small it add no weight and can be placed at the bottom of your pack

My 2 cents: Why not tie your waterproof layer around the down jacket, just to keep it dry? it is your body insulation layer, bad if it gets wet. I generally tie these layers around my ends anyway.
