Hammock trip to Pedernales Falls September 2016

Took a weekend trip out to Johnson City to enjoy the beauty that Pedernales Falls offers. Took some footage of areas we enjoyed and some silly ramblings of mine.

Nice. Did you camp at a designated primitive area? If not, do you know what trails you were near?

Sorry to pull up a year old thread but I'm going to pedernalis next weekend. It will be my first hike in and hammock camp adventure and I can't wait to get there. How is the hike to the camping area? Trying to plan just how much I want to carry.

No apology necessary. The hike really isn't that difficult, depending on your conditioning. It's pretty straight forward, not technical at all, just a little bit of distance to cover. I believe the primitive area begins approx. 2 miles from the parking lot. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the response and the info. I was looking at the trail map today and it looks like only a few hundred ft of elevation change at the most which should be like a walk in the park compared to where I usually hike on the AT in Virginia. Cool video as well I can't wait to see the place.

Yeah probably won’t be quite the view that the AT provides but still natures beauty. Be sure to take some pictures and share on this thread! Enjoy!
