Projected low tonight in the mid to low 30s, clear skies, with a full moon.
Going to test the Blackbird with BBO cover and the new GI Extreme bag.

    BB + BBO

GI Extreme bag ready to go

HH hex tarp completes the setup

    I will post results.

Not sure what the temp is but my tarp is already frosted over and it's only 11:45pm! While I'm not quite ready to turn in for the night I've been out in the hammock for nearly an hour, so here's the scoop thus far...

    Toasty!

I'm only wearing an undershirt, cotton pajama bottoms, and one pair of regular tube socks. I haven't had to zip up the GI Extreme bag because it's so warm. I think I'm gonna have to leave it open tonight so I don't overheat! We'll see...

Hey Alan don't cook your self the bears can smell when your done. You can vent the BBO if you need to, just undo the head end and it will open up a nice little vent just above your head. And the wing holes for the guy outs on the BB will hold the rest of the top cover in place just fine. That or if bugs are not an issue you can leave the BB's zipper un-done a few inches. But I remember bad no seeums in the winter when I was in MS a few years back, don't know if you have them so bad there.

Backyard test a success. No cold spots at all. Not sure what the temp got to here...but is was COLD. Frost everywhere and the grass crunched beneath my feet when I got out at night to hit the little boy's room.

The only issue I had to deal with wasn't with the cold, but with the ever-present material ridge underneath my knees and calves. I used a pad to alleviate the pressure and all was well with the world again.
