    GA> AT section in January

A couple of my hiking buddies bailed on me, so now I have a week off to myself. The plan, as long as it isnt to cold, is to drive up to GA for FL on Saturday the 21st to an ending location (maybe Hiawassee or further). Drop off truck and take a shuttle back to Amicalola. Stay there Saturday night (or maybe a little way up the approach trail). Then start hiking Sunday morning. Thinking about doing somewhere in the 10-12 ish miles a day. Resupply at Neels. Keep going. Anybody wanna join?

I can't join you, but I'm sure you'll have a great time. I did most of the GA section in early march before the foliage came in on the trees. Really nice views, I'm sure you'll enjoy it and I hope some fellow hammockers will join in.

Thanks bud. Thinking about shortening it and just doing Amicalola to Neels (around 40 miles), so I can get home earlier. Any takers ?

I'd love to go but can't. I can guarantee you that you will not be alone though! Was on at last week. You will love it. Absolutely the best time of year as long as you have the right gear.

I would love to, but I just started a new job. I know some thru-hikers have already started.

You set on doing it Nobo, and the approach trail? I might be able to pick you up Sat., start hiking with you and then turn around and come back to my car Sunday while you continue on.

You should stay at the Hiker Hostel or Top of Ga Hostel that Sat when you get there. They can provide shuttle and you might meet some folks doing the same as you.

By the way, you know Amicalola is not the beginning, right? My view is that its a better place to finish than to start, and not just due to the incline to Springer.

I understand it's not technically the beginning, but if I'm going to section hike NOBO in order, I'd beat myself up if I didn't do the approach. Thought about the hostel, just don't know if I wanna go that far yet. Might stop at Neels, who knows. Still have some time to think about it
