I pulled the plug on a Bushcraft Outfitters MEST. At $30 I had to try it. Seems like a great little entry tarp into the "Bushcraft" style tarp world. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Congrats on the new MEST, you won't regret it, bare in mind the 5x7 is a great all around product and can be pitched in a few effective setup's, but it's size limit's it's applications. It's best suited for emergency shelter applications or supplementing a larger shelter/cover.
That said, check out IAWOODSMAN on Youtube for some pretty neat applications.

I own a BCUSA 10x10 tarp. It's excellent over two hammocks in the diamond mode when the Fiancee and I went camping last summer in Sisters, Oregon... It's also pretty heavy and durable, awesome for car camping. I also have a couple UL DIY tarps that packs way smaller than the BCUSA tarp, but I wouldn't trust them to function as good on the ground as the BCUSA does when it does bivy mode (fold in half to 10x5, then set up half pyramid )
I've been using the BCUSA 10X10 since they came out. I even bought the ultralight version. IT is stupid light for that much coverage (not as light as CF, but pretty close). Its a good buy either way.
I for one think fun is justification on its own
