I was focused on testing the UQ but the best part was spending the time with her.

So I made it through the night, with my outside thermometer registering 8 degrees. However, I had to change out the synthetic shirt with my Capilene 3 long sleeve shirt. Everything else stayed the same.
The system worked magnificently for me. I actually had to put a leg out from underneath the Speer TopBlanket for most of the night until it hit the low temp around 3:30 this morning.
It's been great testing this setup and being comfortable in the setup and knowing how low the system will go.

Looks like you have a great combo with that setup. Probably will not get too many more chances to test these low temps this year.
Sounds great, but what kind of sleeping bag are you using? And what kind of ripstop is best for the UQ, and is it waterproof?
BTW, I came here only to get some insultex, but after I've seen how great insulated hammocks work in freezing temperatures, I'll make me one also. Plus I'm in online militia group, where this info also should be helpful.

Older North Face Propel 35* zipperless bag converted to top quilt. Clothing- synthetic T/underwear, MTS micro fleece top bottom, Montbell down jacket & insulated pants. I like this system because it is multi use and I am wearing part of my sleep system. Really does not matter though what you have on top. If the bottom insulation is not working you will know it quickly and many try to compensate by adding more on top. When you get the bottom right, you will find that you need less on top.Sounds great, but what kind of sleeping bag are you using? And what kind of ripstop is best for the UQ, and is it waterproof?
I used 1.1 ripstop but just about any quality fabic will work. The fabric really is just a protective cover for the insulation. The synthetic insulation will not leak thru like down. I don't think it is necessary to use a wp material to cover the IX.
Remember the IX will not work directly against you or your hammock. It needs an air gap. The exact amount is up for discussion.
