    10 deg backyard hang (Tonight)

It will be 10 deg. tonight or that is the forecast anyway in Hendersonville TN a sub. of Nashville. Sorry had to plug my town. I will be using a eno double a equinox 10x12 tarp in door mode. My insulation will be a MWUQ 4 and a old rag top quilt. I will try to pull it off without the use of a pad but it will b there if needed. I will have on mid weight thermals and fleece sleeping pants along with a thin fleece vest and a heavy weight fleece pullover.

I will report back to inform everyone on how it went.

Hanging out in Murfreesboro on the other side of Nashville. Slept out last night and left the hammock up for tonight

It went fine. I was trying a 1/2 UQ I had modified for by youngest daughter. It has 3" baffles with up to 5" of loft in the section I have down in. The outside sections have climashield to help keep the insulation up around the shoulders. I used a pad doubled up under my calves. I was actually warmer than I expected. I use a combination of down jacket, primaloft pants, and a 40 degree primaloft quilt. Last night it was about 18 degrees and I used the above with boxers and long sleeve tshirt and was still a little too warm. Going to try the same combo tonight.

well that is very encouraging to hear I will be wearing more than that I hope I am too warm also! I am wanting to do a mnt. Leconte summit this month and since it is near impossible to get a temp reading for the summit. I am planning for the worst and hoping for the best!

I think you got it covered with MW4 & Old Rag with the pad for backup. Keeping the bottom of the hammock insulated is the most important IMO. If you start feeling cold add the pad before adding top insulation. "Puffy" clothing whether its down or synthetic does better IMO and that midnight trip into the cold is easier when you are wearing part of your sleep system

We are not going to get to -17 tonight like Shug mentioned in another thread but we are still hangin and havin fun in TN

IMO that's all that matters FUN! But for good measure I am sipping on a VERY small amount of whiskey to warm the insides

    Well maybe not that small.

White House TN here.... And my wife thought I was the only crazy person to hang out in weather like this.... Here's my game plan... SnugFit under the WBBB dbl 1.7, BA Insulated Air Core between the WBBB layers, Speer TopQuilt III, and a Speer Winter Tarp...

    So far so good....

It's important to test with what you will be using on the trail
