Agreed. I tossed it out here because of your comment on the cost of your patent attorney. I have been in and out of several situations where the issue was to patent or publish. It is my understanding that if one publishes then they have created a prior art they can use to defend against a downstream patentee that tries to go after them. If your legal costs are significant then it costs me more to buy Dutch bling so I am an interested party. In that light I tossed out the information for you, and maybe some other folks, to consider. If the discussion is worth taking any farther I would really suggest a new thread.

Point taken. I already love my recently purchased cinch bugs. Can't wait to get my beetle buckles with my chameleon to see how they compare.

Could I use the Beetle Buckle to replace the apex buckle of my Ridgerunner? Then there would be two loops of Amsteel being placed on the buckle, coming from an angle. Would this work or cause too much wear?

I'll give you my two cents based on my short experience with the Beetle Buckle...I've been using an 8" Amsteel continuous loop Lark's headed to the metal triangle to which the dogbones are attached. Then I attach the continuous loop to the Beetle Buckle. I've noticed the Beetle Buckle puts a bit of a "crimp" in the Amsteel where it loops around the buckle. The Amsteel runs at some sharp angles around the buckle. For now I'm keeping a close eye on the wear factor. I've rotated the CL a time or two now to even out the wear. I'd be a bit reluctant to attach the dogbones directly to the Beetle because it's easier to replace the CL than dogbones.

I do really like the Beetle Buckle though. It's my go-to suspension now.

Thanks solarmolar! I was hoping to do away with the apex buckle altogether. You've given me some food for thought...

I'm not sure how much the apex buckle weighs, but two of them (head end and foot end) plus two continuous loops are pretty negligible. I carry a spare CL.

You're absolutely right. My aim, actually, which I didn't explain clearly, was to get rid of the four inches of Warbonnet's continuous loop from the apex buckle to the cinch buckles. Just simplicity, you know. I thought hanging the dog bones on the beetle buckle directly would bypass all that and reduce the large inter-tree span by a little bit.
But I will have to look into this issue of wear on the Amsteel. You're right that replacing the dog ones would be a pain compared to a continuous loop.

I think that the spiders are just as good. I do not have any Spiders but can definitely see their merit. I do have some on my wish list. While I do have Beetles I also have two Chameleons so the option to use a spreader bar was prime for me.

Any news on when these will be added to the site? Been itching to pick up 2 sets as an upgrade to my current buckle setup
