I now have everything that I need to make my tarp - a sewing machine, my materials and thread. I just realized that I don't know what size needle size is recommended to sew silnylon (actually Xenon Sil 1.1) on my Singer.

Usually the smallest needle you can find will work best; Larger needle holes can cause stretch at the reinforcement patches. I've used a size 75 & 80 for waterproof fabrics.
You need to match your needle with your thread choice. Look up your thread at the manufacturer's website to see what needle sizes are acceptable.
11 should be good, so long as the thread runs smoothly through the eye.
