How do Wide hammocks affect Underquilts?

I sleep in a standard width 11.5', I'm backing Dutch's Kickstarter and it's looking like the wide option is going to happen. I've never had one of his wide hammocks so I'm not sure if I want one or not, but one factor that will affect my decision is I just got a HG quilt set (well, technically it arrives tomorrow) and I'm definitely not buying a hammock that makes that less usable.

I doubt it would affect much at all.

However wide the fabric is, does not change the amount of the UQ needed to cover you, the user in that hammock...bits of extra fabric would not inhibit the HG UQ from remaining in close contact it seems to me?

I've got an 11' dutch wide and a jrb greylock3. Extra hammock width plays no part in coverage, go and enjoy worry free!

Thank you both for your quick input. I guessed that might be the case, but I don't like making assumptions.

Jason, as a side point, can you describe the difference the foot extra width makes to you?

Since Dutch has added all those UQ shockcord attachments the width of the hammock might have some effect. But if you don't use them I would say the hammock width would make no difference.
I say this only owning 11' x 60" hammocks. I've never tried anything wider.

Here's a little personal preference regarding your wider hammock question. My first hammock was a dutch 11' x 70" wide. Love it and it allows me to find a flat lay fast and is very roomy but with a bit too much fabric on the sides (knotty mod helps). My next hammock was a standard 11'x 58" width. I could get by with it but not nearly as comfortably for me. My "final" and favorite is an 11' x 64" width which I find as a perfect width. I'm 6'. If I had to choose just between the 58" vs. the 70", I'm going 70".
My HG Phoenix underquilt works great with my wider hammocks.

Thanks for your input Blizz. How much off-center do you lie? and how to you lie in general?

I'm 6'1" but curious if I would benefit the same since I purposely only go slightly off center and scoot myself up so the hammock raises my upper back and supports my head without any pillow.

I don't typically lay at an extreme diagonal like I see some doing. I'd guess somewhere around 30+ or so degrees off center. I do have my foot end raised about 10-12", so I'm not raised up at the head end like you mentioned. I prefer a small pillow under my neck. I use the raised position when lounging or reading, but when it's time to sleep I scoot down a bit. Good luck with your decisions!

Let's me actually get a good diagonal 😊 I'm 6'3" and I've found the standard width is just a bit too narrow for me. I like all that space to spread out in.
