    Chameleon spreader bar

I have backed the chameleon and am getting another two sets of beetle buckle suspensions. I want to buy a spreader bar to separate two hammocks when attached to the same tree. Can I buy a spreader bar set from Dutch for my head end of my Ridgerunner and then use the "old" ridgerunner spreader bars as my spreader bars for separating two hammocks with beetle buckle suspension? Will both of the spreader bar tips work in either the ridgerunner hammock or the beetle buckles?

If so, what length should I get for my ridgerunner. I like the length that I get when I use all three spreader bar pieces (roughly 40") for my head end. I would like to get that same length but with only two pieces from Dutch. Someone help me out. Is that possible?

We sell 25inch and 18 inch lengths in both male and female. From there we can cut them down. For example you could be a 25 female and a 15 male. (the 15 male would really be 18 with the insert that make it a male). That would give you the 40 over all.

However, that is really far for two hammocks side by side. I have been playing with them and I am finding 32 inch to be the perfect length. It just keeps the hammocks apart just enough. the wider you make them the more they seesaw and the harder it is to tarp.

You could also get 2 males and a female that are 18. cut the female to 4 inches and have the other part 14 inches. This way you put the two males together and the 4" female and you have a 40 incher. But if you want to hang side by side, you use one male and the 14 inch female.

Dutch- what size bar will ship for backers of the double chameleon, or will you give people the option of choosing a length? (Backer 268 here- also congrats on the success of the campaign- you totally deserve it!) I'm hoping we reach the wide goal- I'm 6'6"!

Something to keep in mind, the ridgerunner uses a larger diameter bar at the head end than is typically used for double hanging. Seems to me a lot of pressure gets applied to that bar, especially if you're not as light and svelte like me

We haven't totally determined yet but it will be about 30.5 to 32" We hope to do a vid showing the different lengths.

So the spreader bar that Dutch sells won't work for my head end of a ridgerunner? It is a good thought as I am around 220# so thank you for bringing it up. Isn't the double layered ridgerunner rated for 250# or is it 300#?

At 150# I'm sure I could get away with the smaller bar, but if you're approaching the limits you might not want to risk it. I also have a DL and when I get in I don't think I make even a tiny impression. The RR is rated for 250 I believe, but I think that's as more of an indication of girth rather than actual weight limit. Probably best to ask Brandon about it.

I'm 170 and I use the skinnier head pole fine on my RR. The Dutch poles' connection isn't as tight as the stock Warbonnet bars (Easton?)-it spooks me a bit . I wouldn't want to be 200 and use it.

Just to clarify... 1 or 2 are needed ? Head end only or one at each end? for the Chameleon...

This is about spreader bars for two hammocks, so weight x2.
