No! No! Stray! It's the net...it's what we do.

Seriously, I'd like to know more. Like AS, I thought it was history.

I hope the mods will allow this little detour. Please?

I also modded my DoubleNest to eliminate the big honkin biners and slap straps and replaced them with a pair of 1/8 amsteel whoopie slings and tree straps. A great hammock just became even better. Putting in a structural ridgeline is tempting, but I also like to kick back in chair mode a lot with my ENO and wouldn't want to have that get in the way. Maybe a removable RL gets you the best of both worlds. I can't say that I ever have that much trouble getting a good hang without one. As much as anything I miss the ability to hang something within easy reach.

About those ugly azz hardware store biners...when the hammock is stuffed in the sack with them, fabric can be forced into the gate opening, resulting in "bite marks", tiny holes in the hammock. They are evil...get rid of them.

Switchout the suspension and add a structural ridgeline and you've got a great hammock.
Now that that is out of the way, train stories please. A vagabond's life is by far the most entertaining.

the ridgeline is nice to hang stuff from, but I mostly want one to use with a sock because I use my eno in winter.

just add a biner clip or equivalent and you can remove it easily.

see, see, we are on topic, now make with the rail stories!

seriously, that's very interesting, don't remember anyone else here talking about that, if it gets long the mods will just move it to it's own thread. just noticed the youtube link in your sig, stupid internet filters at work, grrr

We have a ENO doublenest and singlenest. Love the no net, no tarp moonlit nights.
Have whoOpieSlings. ( Will have more. )

We mostly camp in spring and fall. Have not had problem with bugs.
( Have a ENO Bugnet we have never used.) Mostly camp in NY Catskill Mts.

We like the doublenest for daytime napping ( one person ) because it can conveniently wrap around yourself if there are a few bugs and mosquitoes.
I plan to sew three tabs on leftside and rightside with ability to overlap edge to hold closed, using S-biners.
These tabs can also hold ( keep from sliding off ) a small piece of bug netting over the head end or a larger piece of netting if necessary. Perhaps even one of our DIY lightweight TQ in warm weather.

All of our UQs ( Snugfit and DIY cocoon1 and cocoon2 ) and DIY TQs have tabs that lineup. ( some tabs are only intended to hold the TQ during nighttime urination trips so reentry is simple in the dark.)
