It's supposed to be clear on Saturday after some late Friday night thunderstorms.

Yeah that's what I saw. I have to say warmer would be better if I'm getting my feet wet but it might be something that I just have to deal with.

Glad trailslug posted the newer forecast because the one I saw was last night.

I'm aiming to make it to this hang.

It'll be great to meet some fellow hangers in person. Plus I've never been to Sipsey and it sounds like a great place to explore.

I ran over to Sipsey today and did trails 202 - 209 - 201 loop. Almost the perfect day for a 10 mile hike. The trip was uneventful except for one moment, well two. First of all when I crossed the Sipsey at 209 and headed up 201 I got off trail. I couldn't follow the trial when it entered the spring. I saw a slight trail that went up a steep bank and followed it. Once it ran out I wasn't about to back track. Took about 20 minutes of bushwhacking to get back to 201. Those briers will tear you up. That little trek off 209 up to 201 is a bit of a work out.
Secondly, walking back on trail 201 I saw a dog sitting on the side of the trail and he looked friendly. As I proceeded he jumped up and took off and along with him was another dog. Now I'm getting a bit worried as I'm in the middle of nowhere and I'm sure there are no homes within 10 miles of this trail so I wondered who these dogs belonged to. As I eased along the trail the second dog started growling at me and then I saw why. It was a large mama hog that I'm guessing these two must have just brought down. This was as nervous as I'd ever been while hiking. I'm not sure what I would have done had the two dogs come towards me as I couldn't reach my protection. That's going to change.

    Try this

This will make it easier to get to what you need to help take care of the hogs.
There's a hunting cabin not to far from 201 on this map. I've meet guys who the owner let's come and hunt hogs. They just shoot them and leave them laying could be one of theirs?

Wow. That's a weird thing to see on a trail! They worked for that kill and didn't want to lose it.

It would be weird but the Sipsey has thousands of hogs. It's hard to hike more than a mile or two without seeing very large uprooted ground. I saw signs of root several times today. I'm disappointed that I've never seen a live hog but they must have keen hearing as I've covered a ton of ground there and today was the first one I've ever seen.
