    DIY UQP PDQ!

I made my UQP (under quilt protector) this afternoon... I was hoping to make it a few days at a time, but once I got started I could not stop....!
Thanks to VAllen's original plans as well as Sarge and Jellyfish's videos, I was able to make one of these in no time. I will post some pictures with it on my hammock soon. It is a very simple and useful project! Next up a stuff sack for it.

    Nice job, Brad.

Folks who have never tried one or otherwise found the need for one (yet) may not realize not only that the underquilt protector is a useful camping item to enhance hammock use in bad weather but also that UQPs make fairly easy and fun DIY projects that go together fast. For DIY, the material investment can be pretty low -- just 3 yards of fabric, about 14 feet of thin shock cord, a little hardware, and some scraps of ribbon -- and they give you one of the best "bang for the buck" ratios when you're looking to add some style and personality to your camping hammock. You can "go wild" with printed fabric (see below) or a bright color, or you can swaddle a mismatched underquilt to coordinate it with your hammock and tarp. One UQP can work with virtually and hammock and/or quilt you have, blocking the wind, keeping your quilt and hammock dry, and providing thermal as well as aesthetic benefits.

    Enjoy yours.

Ok, I finally got time to get this rigged up and checked out. Too bad I am still on the patio.... Anyway, here are some pics with it attached to the hammock. I had to add 1 foot to the end shock cord. I originally made them 2 feet in length, but it seemed to crush the Wookie too much. I may ad another foot, but for now it seems to be alright. I added some door shock cord to the SuperFly tarp doors and removed the mini carabiners I had there.
