I'm a definite GO for this. Exams end on the 7th and I go to school about an hour from Damascus. I might jump on the trail north of Wise shelter the weekend before and section down and meet the group at Wise shelter, or just wait and take the shuttle with everyone.

Anyone know what average temps are that time of May? I'm contemplating picking up a Western Mountaineering Down Vest to supplement my Marmot Windshirt.

I'm planning on cold rain and nothing more. So, I'll have a UL down vest, Marmot rain jacket, and a thermal zip top. My bag will be a 40 degree feather bag and another small summer bag and a DIY summer UQ.

Anyone else busting at the seams for this trip? I haven't been out in over a year, and this will surely be the high point of this crazy year so far.

Yep, I am. Hey Hooch, what time are you planning to start hiking to Damascus on Wed. May 12 from Wise shelter?

My boss just approved my vacation for this hike! I won't be needing a shuttle because JD will be dropping me off at Mt. Rogers to meet up at the Wise Shelter. Will just need to reconfirm the meet-up details when the date gets closer.

Still looking to meet someone in non-mountain NC for the ride up to the shuttle. Will help with gas on the trip.

I'm currently debating with my wife about the possibility of making this kind of trip. Not sure how we will get there yet, but we are very interested in meeting up with the group if we decide to make a go at it.

Don't be jealous of the kilt. I'm totally gonna rock the kilt like only Hooch can.
