Well I was looking at the map this morning for that section, and it looks like a relatively easy section of trail.

Hooch do you have any planned mileage or camping locals for each night?

From what I can see on the elevation and mileage chart. It should take about 3 1/2 days to do this section.

From the Map, it looks like that first day there should be water and excellent trees down around Deep Gap. This would allow for a lazy first day, and could stop and BS with any thru hikers at Thomas Knob Shelter before heading down to camp.

The Second Day looks like it will be a long day in order to end up somewhere with water near by while still making good mileage.

Camping near Lost Mountain shelter provides plenty of hanging area, water, and a privy.

3rd Day ending up somewhere near Feathercamp Branch provides a water source, and is about 2.5 miles from the Rd. Crossing at US58.

Then Saturday it would be a short 2 Mile Climb up to Cuckoo Knob and then 3 miles downhill to Main Street of Damascus.

Not trying to step on anyone's toes with the planning, but I'm trying to decide whether I'm going to place a stealth food bag near the 2nd night area with some whiskey, stove fuel, and other trail magic for the group.

I'm waiting to hear the official word.

I'm planning on going as far as I feel like each day, and If I don't keep up, I'll just solo once I fall behind the group, no big deal.

For those of y'all who plan on making the Trail Days Hike, Dancer and I will be finalizing plans this weekend and getting them posted by Sunday, hopefully. Sorry on the slow intel, but it's on the way.

You're just scared I'll look better in it than you will.

Hope the mileage each day is something I can do. Less is good for me. I'm getting old!

I don't think that will be a problem. I can't do big miles.

I'm capable of doing more miles than I like to do, but don't like to get in a hurry so I can enjoy my hike. Just breezing by scenery isn't enjoyment to me at all, but HYOH. I'm sure that we'll be doing reasonable miles, shouldn't be a problem at all.
