Hey trailbug, hope to see you at the group hang in April! Jnunniv has a lot of info on the Sipsey, just pm him and I'm sure he could give you some good co-ordinates.

I have not made it to a group hang at sipsey yet, but hope to perhaps for weekend of 4/7/17, but still some hurdles there for me.
I do a fair bit more kayak camping than backpacking in the past year, for what little I do anyway with what little time in the woods

Group hangs are a lot of fun it's where people of this forum that lives in and around alabama meets at Sipsey Wilderness/Bankhead area and just hang out eat (you won't leave hungry) and hike. It's a good time to check out gear and try out gear also. If you need to borrow something there probably someone that will have it to let you borrow it.
